| Welcome to Los Angeles Astronomy |
| This website is about astronomy and the imaging of astronomical objects with telescopes and digital cameras called CCDs (charged coupled devices). My home is in Los Angeles, less than 5 minutes from LAX. It's the second largest metropolitan area in the country and has more than its share of light and air pollution. It's a challenging vantage point to say the least and I find that I must drive an hour or three to get to really dark spots to do the imaging I enjoy. My main implements of destruction these days are RCOS & Takahashi telescopes and SBIG STL cameras. I've been imaging since the summer of 2000 and still have much to learn. I'd appreciate your feedback. I hope you enjoy the site and visit often! Bill Patterson bill@laastro.com |
